M aki is both the vocal coach and musical composer of μ's responsible for the melody of many of their songs. She is from a rich family which expects her to eventually take over her mother's position.
One can always sense some kind of inner struggle that keeps Maki from expressing what she truly feels, and music serves as Maki's outlet for her feelings. Maki is often seen after school practicing and singing in front of the piano in the music room. Before joining the μ's, music had been a very private affair for her.
Her reclusiveness may make her seem cold on the surface, but Maki is a kind and caring person who is willing to come to the aid of strangers. After initially refusing to help, she composed a song and sent it anonymously to Honoka. She also gave singing tips to Hanayo, and encouraged her to do what she wanted to do.
